I've recently been trying to back up my collection to my newest laptop however for some reason DVD Shrink is spitting out ISOs that won't appear in Windows Explorer or in my Roxio Media Creator program.

However, when I try to shrink the DVDs into ISOs, DVD Shrink insists the file already exists. ONLY when I click browse in DVD Shrink do the items appear, however, the ones that aren't appearing at all are shown with padlocks.

In the image above, CARRIERS.ISO is the shrunk DVD that appears in Windows and Roxio but the others only appear when I browse through DVD Shrink.

Anyone know why this is happening?

DVDShrink is WAY out of date. It won't work on newer DVDs.

  3. Always use AnyDVD (HD) in the background when opening a DVD. Then DVD Shrink can compress every DVD.
If you like to create Image Files of your DVDs, then you need some tools:
    - AnyDVD (HD) to create *.iso and *.dvd files (A *.dvd file contains the Layer Break information of the DVD [2 layer opposite or parallel]
    - Imgburn to burn the *.dvd file to an DVD DL (Verbatim is very good) (Be careful, since 2.5.1.0 the ASK toolbar is in the installer (don't click to fast through the installation)
    - Virtual Clone Drive to mount your *.dvd files
    - Player like VLC media player, MPC HC (perhaps with ffdshow), PowerDVD or whatever you like ... test them
    I hope this helps you

I had that happen in Windows 7. It had been put in a virtual spot somewhere. I got it to stop that behavior by selecting where I wanted it saved instead allowing the program to choose. On WinXP DVDShrink always saved in the C:\ spot unless otherwise directed.
Make a new folder that is the intended save place then direct the program to save to that folder and see if that makes everything nice again.
