It might be that the media you are using is not compatible with your Yamada player. Try using a different brand and see if that helps.
It might also be the method used to burn the DVD. If you can give us a little more on what programs and procedures you burn with we can give you a little better answer. -
check your dvd player model and brand on the left to see if it will actually play the format (+ or -). To rule out human error (i believe there have been some dvd related issues with nero's 6 version....ps check the website because I saw that they have some hotfixes out for it), download shrinkiso. It use dvd decrypter to ultimately burn the dvd and it automates that process.
Aside from media, your dvd player, I can only think that it would be the way you burned the disc. Give shrinkiso a try and it (hopefully) will fix your issue.
I personally, use the latest non 6 version of nero express and it also works great for me. -
Hi Mate.
If the disc plays on your PS2 then there is nothing wrong with the burning process IMO. You say that these same discs played on your yamada 2100 when burned with your nec drive? Well that seems odd but i have found out that when you find a formula that works you need to stick to it....I have a 105 pioneer and i know i have to stay away from anything made by princo cause they just will not burn properly, even though everyone says i can burn princo with my drive.
Go for a pack of discs that has a selection of brands in and see how you go compatability wise, I always use Ritek GO4 now, great burn reliability and compatablility. Its not worth me switching brands as i know i will run into problems. So when you find a media that gives good results stick with it if the price is right for you.
Good Luck
Oh and i always use Nero 6 and not had any problems so far. -
if it plays on your ps2, then you made the disc correctly. there is nothing wrong with your method. go buy a chepo dvd player from circuitcity, ( i got mine for 6 bucks! ) they will play mostly everything. My brand name jvc wouldnt play my burned discs but my friends dvd player would, which was a cheaper model. See, big companies customize everything, the drive, power supply, c-cube card, to make it the best at playing dvd's, but the chepeeee comanies take a dvd drive out of a computer ( which will play anything) stash it in a box, add a power supply and a video card, then sell it. They will virtually play EVERYTING. PS-The dvd player i bought was an AMW S99 - 40 bucks - 25 dollar gift card - 10 dollar rebate = the best deal EVER. I have a funny feeling it aint gonna last though...

I had a similar problem, where i backed up a movie and my dvd player kept saying disk is dirty. I've burned several disks, same media, same computer, same standalone dvd player and it has always worked fine. I burned the movie on the same type of media again, but used a slower burn. instead of 4x, i burned using 1x and the disk worked fine.
