DRU500AX and 4x burning issue - some tests

Well,
Since weeks I've read a lot of subject about DRU500AX not burning many DVDR 4x at 4x but 2x.
I have this issue with Datawrite DVDs, otherwise I can burn memorex and verbatiom at 4x without issues.
My conclusion is that I haven't any software or cabling issue, but media or drive calibration problems.
However, I've make an experience to try to understand what is the problem. For that, I've used Nero Info Tool to get info on a memorex and on a datawrite DVD (blank onces).

For memorex, info tool report:
Write 4x
Read 8x
for datawrite I have
Write 4x which is fine
Read 2x... strange no ?

But that's not, once burned, the datawrite report:
Write 4x
Read 4x !!!
If someone can explain this, I will be happy.

Also, when you make a speed test with nero5, the speed at 2,5x.... therefore Nero said the burn speed will be 2x.

Will be great if someone with a Pioneer DVD burner can perform the same test with those Datawrite, just to see if it is the "wrong" read speed which is the issue.

Just a precision, I have this issue will all 2.x firmwares (currently 2g)

Go back to 2f - it's rock solid. Any problems with this firmware will be due to the disk not the burner.

Well, I've run a long time with 2f and get the exact same problem.
Is there any known problem with 2g ?

Chill........... use some decent media and see what results you get - at least it will give you an idea of where the problem lies.

Datawrite and Sony DRU500AX

I know.... I burn Memorex 4x at 4x, that's my favorite DVDR now.
I've just tested the datawrite v2 to see if there was any improvement... bullshit.

Memorex & bulppack not suggested for the Sony. Use Accus.

I presume you just flash it as normal.

yes you can play with 2.0g and go back to 2.0f if you wish. No issue.
