  1. My Sony VAIO w/ DVD+/-RW just recently started giving my problems when burning DVD-r's usuing TMPEGenc DVD Author. The computer is only 2 months old, but all of a sudden when I go to burn my authored projects they get maybe 1/4 done and then will say completed and eject the disc. The screen doesn't give any errors, just stops burning and the disc doesn't play at all!

The first few months, everything worked fine! TMPGenc was awesome and all the projects I created burned perfectly. I've now wasted 10 or so dvd-r's trying to figure this out! It will occasionally burn OK on a DVD-RW, but then I'll use a DVD-R and it will create this problem! I've even tried restoring my computer's C drive to the original factory setting and re-installing the software hoping somehow a driver got corrupted. But I get the same problems.

Is my DVD+/-RW drive faulty? It plays fine, but the burning is screwing up. I have a warrenty, but am hoping someone can shed some light on what might be happening.

Thanks to all for your great help! (sorry for the long explanation).

  2. I normally use Nero with my sony but have used Tmpgenc also never had a problem with either programs. Try using the burning software that came with the computer It should rule out the burner

  3. you said about using 10 dvd-r's where they all the same... try using different media. try ritek's.
even try to burn on to dvd+r see if there is any difference.
maybe you just bought a bad batch

  4. I thought maybe it could be a bad batch, but I used a couple on my Panasonic DMR-E20 and it recorded and finalized fine. It will do cd-r's fine, but I will try another dvd copy program and see how it does. I think I tried and it errored. Maybe I'll do a straight copy using the Veritas Record Now and see what happens.

    Thanks, guys!

  5. Well, I've come to the conclusion that it isn't the media, software or the dvd burner. It seems something is kicking in on my computer to disrupt the burning process.

I can start my computer up and go directly to TMPGEnc and burn a dvd-r disc just fine, but when I do a 2nd it this problem arises. I'm going to disable EVERYTHING else now when burning and see if it stops the problem. The funny thing is, for the 1st two months of owning my computer this never happened. I don't think I installed or did anything different. If I did, it doesn't matter because I restored my C drive to factory settings anyway to try and fix it.

Does anyone have any clue what could be disrupting this?

    Thanks-
    Jeff
