  1. I'm new to this video editing business so I'm sure some of you guys will be
    able to help me out.

I've got the EZMaker USB2.0 and using the bundled Sonic MyDVD software which
seems to work reasonably well, but the video and sound go out of synch after
a while. I captured an hours worth of home video but after about 15 mins
into the capture, the sound is out by several seconds!
I tried to re-capture the video but the same thing happened. (I checked the
resultant mpeg in Windows media player but it's out there too.)

I can confirm that the original VHS tape is fine and perfectly in sync!

I have tried saving the capture to my secondary hard drive rather than my primary without success.
I have also tried intalling a new sound card rather than using the onboard sound chipset.

I have a pretty good machine running Windows XP Pro with an excellent
graphics card (Radeon 9600 Pro) and plenty of RAM (1 GIG) plus a decent processor (XP2600)

    Any ideas please?

I know nothing of the Sonic software you have but audio/video sync is a common problem and unfortunately too many factors can be the cause.
My suggestion would be to start by using a different capture software (I would suggest Virtualdub) to eliminate that problem.
    What are you capturing to?
Are you capturing to avi and then encoding?
Have you burnt to a disk and tried on a standalone DVD player to ensure the problem is the same?
    Good luck

    My secondary hard drive.
    Yes, that is correct.
Yes I have and yes it is the same.
I will give the different software approach a try! Thanks for the link.
