  1. Can someone direct to or help me in my search on how to convert an avi to xvid with 2-passes.

I use virtualdub, but i dont know how to achieve 2-pass encoding.

It makes a movie of 98mb, but then it stops. And so does my understanding in 2-pass encoding.

I want to try the 2-pass thing, because at cbr at high scenes, the picture isnt all that good as i want it to be.

...er... Why convert at all? You'll only get a slightly worse copy that's still AVI, regardless of 1 or 2 passes.

Under compression, pick your codec, then you have to configure it. Click that button you didn't click the first time to settup size (since it's XviD) and 2-pass.

Here's a tip: For 2-pass you have to encode twice (well duh). The first encode isn't really an encode, it's more of a listing of the original bitrate (from which it determines what bitrate to encode when, pretty neat). Sooooo...you need to either batch encoded or go back and do pass #2. You can do pass #2 over and over until you get it right after doing pass #1. Don't change the defaults for the 1-pass file or you will get confused.

I want to add subtitles to the original, so i can play them on my KiSS player., because the subs appearance on that KiSS sucks apenoten.

use VDUB sub filter to add subs. Make sure you allow for overscan (don't place them too low).
