I've just started playing around with Quick AVI Creator. I was wondering if anyone knows how to convince it to do an xvid 1 pass encoding? Seems the only xvid preset is for 2 pass.
I'm just kind of curious if the video would be watchable after only 1 pass. The 2 pass output I tried so far looks good. For some things quicker is better if it doesn't look too bad. Watch once throw away type of stuff.
edit: Ok, I think I've got it. Doing a run now. In case anyone is curious xvids.presets is kind of like an .ini file. To get another entry in the drop down box put a section with brackets like
[One Pass Mode]
your command line here
I just took out the 2 pass and stats stuff from the line for the 2nd pass and used it for one pass mode.
I should know in about 1/2 hour if the result is worth watching.
edit: yeah, definitely worth the bother. Esp. for HD content I need to size down to watch on divx stand-alone DVD player, the xvid does it in better than real time. Good to have in the toolbox. This is a nice converter for xvid. I haven't checked it out with x264 yet. Thanks to the author.![]()
