  1. Okay, I searched through 32 pages of Doom9 posts on DVD Maestro and Audio Issues. After 30 minutes of searching, I learned a couple things - for one, people asked about synching with AC-3 on at least 10 different postings (all asking the same thing), and more importantly audio can present some unique challenges when authoring a DVD, but I digress.

Here's my issue: I am mastering our wedding DV to a DVD. I've got the entire Video done and the DVD works fine. I prep all of my work in Premiere and then export the audio and video as .m2V and .wav for Maestro.

Now I want to add a slide show with a NEW sound track to the DVD. I want this soundtrack in the SAME track as the current sound (EN1). It asks me if I want to replace the audio track there? No, of course not.

In one post, I read that one should get the two tracks and join them as one, then import them into Maestro. Yes, I could do this, but isn't there a more elegant way in Maestro itself? I mean, this is a hardcore program to not allow the simple placement of one audio file right next to the other.

    Suggestions? Links to the answer?

I can say this, boy am I glad I am making a "simple" DVD and not screwing around with AC-3!

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Is there not anyone out there that can tell me:

    1) I cannot do this
    2) Do it as I describe myself
    3) Do it this way.....

Again, any help from a Maestro maestro would be greatly appreciated!

the thing is, it's a hardcore program for the assembly of a dvd - not the assembly of assets for a dvd.

what you have run into wouldn't be an issue with most production houses using Maestro, because they would have planned everything out in advance and had all their assets set up the way they want, before importing them and assembling them.

You haven't really explained yourself that well...If you have your wedding video as one movie and a slide show as another wouldn't they be two different movie streams with their own audio attached to them. And if you do want them to be the a mixed track why don't you export them out of Premiere that way?Remember Maestro is an authoring tool not an editing tool. One other thing that may be confusing you is that in Maestro you will only see one audio track be in that there could be 2ch, 6ch audio mix.

Any audio EDITING tool will merge two tracks up nicely into a single track.

Other than that, you may actually want to put the music in the background, which means putting them in the surround channels. Also done before you import the audio into Maestro. No I don't know offhand how to do so.
