    hello...

    I have many many JPEGS (digitized slides of my family) that I want to put on a CD, possiblly on DVD, so I can watch them on my TV via desktop DVD player. How would I do that?

    I tried it with a CD... formatted with Toast as a hybrid CD, just loaded jpegs on CD (no folders), but my player first told me there was "no audio" followed by "data error"...

    any help would be appreciated, both for CD and DVD.

    thanks

  2. You could use iDVD and create a slideshow. The slideshows are limited to 99 slides each, but you can have multiple, menu selcted, slideshows with the images organized in some way that make sense for you. Music can be added for each slideshow and the slideshow linked to the piece of music you select.

    I'm not aware of a way to do this in the CD format, but someone else on the list may.

  3. I have used VCD Builder for CDs. Ulead DVD PictureShow demo seemed also nice although slower. For more info see chapter "How can I make a slideshow" at:

    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/~shmhav/SVCD_on_a_Macintosh.txt

    Ulead DVD PictureShow slideshows didn't flicker as VCD Builder's did. I guess Ulead somehow blurs the images so there are no thin vertical lines which flicker on a TV screen? I wonder what would be the proper way to blur the input images with VCD Builder? Gaussian blur?

  4. If you have a DVD player that has the jpeg view function you can just around 500 photos on one CD. You need to make sure Toast is using ISO 9660 format with the apple extensons turned off. I use the CD-ROM format and the naming to level 1. Also make sure your files are only 8 characters long and end with the .jpg extension.

    Use the "Send to iDVD" feature of iPhoto. There is an option to archive the actual JPEG files on the same disc. So in essence, you can create a nice DVD slideshow as well as storing your photos.

    I use Toast 6 (now 6.03) to make slideshows- with or without music - on CD or DVD but the latter gives better quality;
    in the best quality you canb put +- 1 hour slideshow on a DVD
