  1. Hi All,

I am a newbie both to the forum and the art of making my own videos. My question has to do with graphics.

I have not yet begun to start capturing the video yet, but just finished the opening credits for my movie by creating a selection of graphics (mostly of text on black backdrop) and placed them as slides into the storyboard of Windows Movie Maker. Then I added the audio, adjusted my transitions and saved the movie and made an MPEG video of it for later use in the movie. While watching the video in Media Player, I noticed that the text looks a bit distorted and I am wondering how much worse it will look on a 25" TV.

I made each slide a 780 X 480 thinking that since it was larger, it would compress nicer. Should they be larger images or is this normal?

    Thanks for any feedback.

You really need to see it on a TV set to judge the quality. WMP is not a good evaluation tool. You might try the trial version of PowerDVD from the 'Tools' section to the left, its rendering is fairly close to how it will look on TV. It will play MPG's. Your slide size should be plenty big.

  3. Redwudz,

I have PowerDVD, I had no idea that you could run a WMP file thru that. Thanks I will view it in that and post again.

  4. Well, it actually looks just as distorted in PowerDVD. Should I post the video here? It's a 1.8MB intro.
