  1. does anyone have a DVD burner which can write at fixed speed of 1x?
if so, could you name and the speed of the burner and the disc you use?

i'm asking because my HP dvd+rw 200i can't write at 1x even when i manually select the speed. i've searched and read many and many posts from many forums, even tried most of the programs like nero, dvd decrypter, record now max, alcohol. also, tried many different brands of DVD+R medias like imation, verbatim, etc. it all writes at 2x only.
i did find one program that writes at 1.5x (copytodvd), but that's the closest it'll get.

a help would be very appreciated, so i can get another dvd burner and media that can actually write at 1x. the only reason why i want to use this speed is because i get errors sometimes.

My LG GSA 4040B says it will write DVD-R's at 1x. The box it came in says that...I haven't tried -R's yet....just +R's so far.

+R format is 2.4x minimum. Buy better discs if you have errors.

Better Media = No Errors. Plus the usual DMA mode/Virus Scanner/ Defrag/Non-OS Master Drive/Burner App checks. Getting a slower burner isn't the answer to your problems. +R burns at 2.4x minimum, any slower and you have major issues going on.

Plugged the HP 200i into a firewire/ USB 1.1 case. Attached the drive to an iBook's Firewire running Mac OS X 10.2.8 and Toast 5.2.1 It burned the entire disc at 2X instead of 2.4X. Luckly i did not get any erros.
