  1. A few questions on my new hardware/software:

*. In Nero when I'm creating a new DVD video, if I select the "DVD Video" profile, the burned DVD will not play. But if I select the profile "DVD Data" and just create the proper dirs myself, the movie plays just fine. Is there a way to get the Video profile working?

*. My DVD burner is 8mb cache, 4x burn speed. Nero sees 8mb / 2.4x. Any fix for this?

*. It seems that most Sony DVD players don't like DVD-R formats, is this everyone, or just me? (using Ritek DVD-R's)

*. With WinFast PVR - if I schedule a future recording with the DirectBurn to DVD profile, but at the current time have my profile set to capture to the C: Drive - when it comes time and the program loads itself and starts recording with the DirectBurn profile, instead of automaticall switching the workarea to the DVD drive, it saves the file to the C: drive instead. Is there any way to make it auto-set the work area to the DVD?

*. When the above error happens, I am stuck with a DVD .mpg on my HD that I want on a DVD. Is there a quick way to author the dvd with this MPG? If I rename it to .VOB will that work? Because if I try to drag this new .mpg into Windows Movie Maker 2 or Adobe, they don't like it and error out.

*. I have noticed that after 10-15 minutes on the above settings, the audio / video begin desyncing. Any tips?

I know its a lot of misc questions, but I hope someone can help!

    Thanks!
    -Matt

  2. Is there a quick way to author the dvd with this MPG?
Use TMPGEnc Author, ULEAD DVD Moviefactory, ............. and a whole lot more. Click on Tools on the left and then select "Authoring" and you will find a lots of progs that can do this.

Will not play where? In your DVD player, your computer or what?

It seems that most Sony DVD players don't like DVD-R formats, is this everyone, or just me? (using Ritek DVD-R's)
In my experience most Sony players are fickle.

My DVD burner is 8mb cache, 4x burn speed. Nero sees 8mb / 2.4x. Any fix for this?
This is usually a function of the blank DVD's, are you sure your discs will handle 4x burns? BTW 2.4X sounds like a DVD+R not a -R.

Sorry I can't help with the rest.

  3. -Will not play in my stand alone DVD player, memorex, but plays fine in the PC.

-Yes they are Ritek 4x blank DVD-R's, but Nero only shows 1x, 2x, 2.4x

    Thanks!

  4. *. My DVD burner is 8mb cache, 4x burn speed. Nero sees 8mb / 2.4x. Any fix for this?
Are you using true 4x media. You said you use Ritek, they should be G04s. If not, that could cause the incorrect write speed.

*. It seems that most Sony DVD players don't like DVD-R formats, is this everyone, or just me? (using Ritek DVD-R's)
Must be your player. I have a Sony that's a second generation player, made way before DVD-R was a twinkle in the eye, and it plays them. See what others say about that player - https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php
It might be the authoring method or it may not like the Nero burns.

Is there a quick way to author the dvd with this MPG?
Use TMPGEnc DVD Author. If the MPG is encoded at the correct bitrate, you can clip any unwanted footage and author without any hassle.

*. I have noticed that after 10-15 minutes on the above settings, the audio / video begin desyncing. Any tips?
To figure this out, we'd need more info. It sounds like your machine can't keep up with the encoding. It's having to software encode all the footage and that's a heavy load for any machine. Your options are to get a card that captures MPEG through hardware, ATI All In Wonders are great, or capture AVI and convert to MPEG.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I have the same question with regards to the following "In Nero when I'm creating a new DVD video, if I select the "DVD Video" profile, the burned DVD will not play. But if I select the profile "DVD Data" and just create the proper dirs myself, the movie plays just fine. "

When you create video_ts folder and burn them on dvd as data not dvd video, what are those discs called? (i dont think we can call them DVDvideo because my new sony dvd player plays the ones burned as dvd video but not the ones burned with data option)

    Please help

  6. - Can't seem to find if my discs are G04 or not, how would I do that?

    - thanks I'll try TMPGenc Author!

    - It may be something to do wtih the DVD profile in Nero.

    - Thanks, your right, machine probably can't keep up. I only get the audio-vid desync when I am burning directly to DVD. Even tho CPU %'age is not 100% when this is happening.. hmm

  7. Of all the disks I burned the ONLY ones not playing on almost all players were burned with Nero!

I think I read awhile back about Nero DVD video having problems, but then new versions have been released since then.
ALL my disks work for me in my Norcent DVD player and most others too,
But every time I find a player that refuses to play any of my disks it is always the ones that were burned with Nero! Of all the disks I have burned with Tmpgenc DVD author built in burner I never had one rejected by a player yet. The only exception might be a Norcent Dp312, the one I had tried was junk! Took it back for a refund too. It clicked while playing a comercail disk and refused most of my DVD-r disks and all -rw disks. My norcent Dp300 plays anything I can force into into it

Maybe try the tmpgenc dvd author program and the built in burner and see if that makes your disks paly on your player. If that don't work, check the DVD specs and make sure your files are compliant.

Load a blank DVD-R and open DVDDecrypter, Select MODE > ISO > READ and then look at the info in the right hand window. It should list the manufacturer ID in the 3rd paragraph. Mine says RITEKG03
