I am trying to narrow down the cause of reasonable quality DVD-R disks skipping and eventually `locking up` in a variety of desktop and pc players - changing media has so far not sorted it.
Is there an issue with labels (or even inks) - could some glues etc possible block the lasers ?? getting a hunch that it might be this.
Using both Sony DR510 and Pioneer 106 - same off both burners - off separate installations of DVDit .
Basically driving me mad - anyone any experience of this.....
    Thank you !

Do you have paper sticker labels on the DVD's or printed directly? Paper sticker labels are a no-no for DVDs.

Sticky paper labels Joe ! - then why on earth are they advertised for DVDs....it did seem to gradually be leading up to them - and seems probably only `gets bad` when the glue sets ??
    Thank you !

  5. I recommend a process of elimination. Create a DVD without a lable and test it on the players that you had issues with. If the problem still exists then its your media else its the lables.

For the record, I have created over 700 DVDs and used lables on all of them with out issues. I can't say for sure why I have such a high success rate. Perhaps its the media I use (Maxell) or the lables I use (Neato) or both. Another factor may be my method of appling the lables. I never apply lables until the ink has properly cured. (15 - 30 min for Matte, 5 - 10 on Glossy).

    Hope this helps
