  1. Hey to all,

I've got a problem. I got a 7.5 GB DVD and I want to copy it. Now there is a 2.0 448KBs track and a 5.1 448 KBs track, it's a DVD whit 40 videoclips so compressing is not an option becouse I want to keep al the original matirial and there are NO EXTRA's.

because it is a DVD of clips a menu would be nice and the clips have a title of it's own :S Thats mean I cant rip one title out and slit that whit IFO edit. I've searched the site and tried everything, IT WONT WORK!!!!!!

I'm gonna buy a rope or something to HANG myself damn .

    Please help

Sorry for the bad English, I'm from the dutch.

  2. If you have a 7.5GB DVD you will HAVE to compress it to fit it all on one disc. If you don't mind putting it on 2 discs there are guides on this site for that purpose.

Look for any that say "to two DVDR"

    Good luck. :c)
I checked the Guides, nothing that could help me. And Yes I want to put it on 2 disks. That's the goal. I did in in the 3 way.

Whit IFOedit the disk would play in my player (Sony DVP-NS305) and not in the mutch more expancive S7700 from Sony.

    DVDxCopy same prob

IFO edit, No chapters and can't play on DVD player (both the players)

Methode one and three work on the Computer.

    please help me!

I'm not so sure on exactly what you want to do but have you heard of DVDLAB?

you would just rip the 40 clips as VOB's and then just drop 20 into a project and create a menu with 20 buttons that link to each clip and you would do the same with the other DVD using the other 20 clips

does the original DVD have a menu?

the thing is I think it only keep one audio track, but I'm sure I have seen a guide that allows you to get more than one audio track

you must be really careful when stripping and rebuilding DVD's when you have a Sony as they can be real fussy regarding playback and refuse to play for the simplest of things

All this discussion about splitting to 2 disks is pointless. Dismissing compression for the reason stated makes NO sense. You should just rip with dvd decrypter in file mode (to retain all files and menus), then compress with DVD2One or DVD Shrink in full disk mode. You'll end up with a virtual duplicate of the original dvd with very little to no degradation in quality. My guess is you'd be unable to see the difference between the original and the compressed copy if played side by side.

You are going thru alot of trouble, and all you'll gain as a result is 2 disks instead of one.

I backed up both LOTR movies (3 hour flicks), each onto ONE DVD+R using the above technique and got excellent video and sound quality.

@Bodene, I'm not sure if you understood the original post as it's a 7.5Gb DVD that he wants to split. It has no extras and he wants to keep all the contents. Compressing would be a setting of 62% to keep it all on 1 DVD and if it was all video

seeing as audio cannot be reduced it will be even less than 62% as it has 2 audio tracks

e.g. 0.75GB of audio will mean that 6.75Gb of video needs to compressed into 3.62Gb or just over a setting of 53% and you would notice a quality loss at that setting

regarding quality loss even at any level, it's all a matter of opinion

You can simply rip all 40 clips seperately (assuming it's composed that way) then re-author on 2 disks. Use DVDDecryptor to rip segments. Treat it as an 'Episode' disk.

Yes, that's my thought also, but with witch program do I re-auther?

I never tried it that way. I tried whit "DVD bilder" from Easy CD and DVD creator 6 from Roxio, but it doesn't support AC3.

  15. Hi all.

JCL, if you still haven't found any satistying solution, DVD Shrink can split the DVD for you, but you will lose the menu.
It is free and extremely easy.

as an aside can you suggest batch encoding to Dr. Shrink in his next release or can 3.0b5 already do it.... notice that when it goes into DA and then encode CPU is @100%. if i run 2 or more instances of 3.0b5 will one run as soon as the other is complete? thanks.

if the 2-set solution i suggested is not to your liking provide a file structure (strange titles ) of your original dvd9, and i'll bet this forum will come up with a feasible solution IFO/VOBEdit comes to mind to handle "strange titles". have to see them though.
no, i think the rope is the best option...less to clean up

  20. all we need to see are the (strange) file (names) inside the VIDEO_TS folder.
in Explorer double-click the folder and copy and paste all the files on the right side window pane to this forum.

as well as your actual VOB files, open up the VIDEO_TS.IFO in Ifoedit and highlight the path name in the top window then click the copy to clipboard button at the bottom

paste that info in here deleting all the rest of the rubbish and it should look something like this
