    I am trying to convert a DV .avi file to Divx using TMPGenc. When I select Save file as .avi and choose the DIVX 5 codec, it gives me the following error.

    Could not initialize VFW Codec.
    This codec can not be used for some reason.

    Any suggestions for this? I also tried to convert it using Virtualdub, but that didn't work either.

    Try reinstalling your VD codec and DivX codec. Also, there are a fww options in TMPGenc about DV import settings. Chek em out.
