  1. Well, I'm trying to encode divx avi's to mpeg and get an unsupported message. I installed divx 3.11 and updated to divx 6.xx (whatever), no good. So i read to make sure to have the vfapi plugins so I tryed those but still no luck.

Why does tmpgenc have so much trouble opening divx coded avi's? I had this problem a couple months as well, in which I re-encoded the avi using Virtualdub... but it's a hassle especially when I have several avi files.

I've never really had too many problems with tmpgenc on my older pc... but I'm ready for a change to something that can work with divx avi's.

Any suggestions on how to fix this tmpgenc problem or just suggestions on a different encoder would be great. Thanks.

Try FitCD, AVIsynth and HCEnc, or use FAVC, which puts an easier to use front-end on HCEnc.
