  1. The process I have followed to do this has been to split the avi file so i can have the AC3 audio and then convert the video to dvd compliant mpeg2 then try to use TPMPEG to multiplex the ac3 and m2v file BUT it doesn't work!! TPMPEG keeps complaining about the AC3 audio not being a compliant mpeg stream. I was living in dream land thinking i'm going to have AC3 audio on my DVD, why can't I use the AC3 file from the AVI?

I then ran ac3fix and then TPMPEG loved the AC3 file BUT now the video and audio are out of sync, I checked the video for bad frames but no bad frames exist.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I dont want to convert to WAV i want to keep the AC3 file.

  2. Don't multiplex it in TmpGenc, use an authoring tool that will accept them seperatley. I suggest either TmpGenc DVD author or DVD-Lab. Bothe have free trial versions available.

  3. I shall try this tonight, but another note when i tried multiplexing it before i ran it through ac3fix it said error at frame 1 or something like that i shall get the exact error tonight and post it up. It seems like loads of people are experiencing a problem when converting AVI+AC3 into DVD maybe some genius converter out there (The One) should write a guide. Any Neo's in the real world?

Yep, try first what bugster recommended. Remember also to play dvd vobs or mpgs with powerdvd or windvd because just play them with media player can sometimes cause sync problems(usually if the source is 23,976 fps with 3:2 pulldown video).

    If it doesn't work:
How did you convert the video?
Did you do any framerate conversion? Like NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC?
Is it constant out of sync? or does it get worse and worse?

DivX uses highly variable rate for the video, so it has max sync problems from what I have been reading on the board. Also what program have you used to demux the ac3? The much touted on the board virtualdub mod does not work as well as virtualdub ac3. It is available through dvd digest site.
