Can you erase any of your DVD-RWs now?
    Hello.

  3. Well some steps to trouble-shoot in order:

    1. Try a different RW Disk (maybe that one had a grudge against you)
    2. Try a different burning software (Nero sucks for dvd's...and yes I can see the flame wars coming like every Indian in the world raining down on General Custer)
    3. Reboot the Computer
    4. Flash the BIOS (this one always provides for an entertaining night so grab some popcorn while your at it)
    5. Use that trusty old pencil eraser.

Which Nero? Some older 5.5 versions had issues. Get the newest 5.5 flavor.

    Hi,
I had the same problem with the same LG burner and the dvd bundled with (maxell).
After having tried several programs (Alcohol, dvd decrypter, copytodvd...), I finally succed in erasing just... upgrading to the latest version of Nero!
So I'm quite sure it'll work also for you: try and let me know, bye.

p.s.: I've never understood why it happened, I guess it was because I first attemped to erase with an "old" version of Nero (it was 5.5.9.0).

Uhmm, sorry I've seen now someone already told you to upgrade Nero and you did it without success... I just can tell you I succed using the version 5.5.10.42. Hope this helps.

  10. I have the same problem/burner/DVD-RW. Upgraded to Nero 6 but .... still bad

    Hope Nicw can help up

Obviously there is a incompatibility between this burner and media, so how can LG recommend it ?

I perfectly copied a movie today with this burner/dvd-rw and erase it after using always nero 5.5.10.42 and everything went ok (selected dvd at prompt and did a fast erase at maximum speed...).
So I just can tell you to try this version because it solved my problem.
    Bye

  12. I didn't say never could to erase it... I even did it twice, but the third didn't work.

I'll try another media, and never will buy Maxell

Uhmm, me too said I had the problem "internal target failure" after two or three burn/erase: I get it out with nero and now the dvd-rw (re)works perfectly.
Anyway I just put my experience and thought it could help (that's the same to say:"I think you could still recover your maxell-rw").
    Aloha

what's the difference between formatting it and erasing it???

i'm not sure.. but if i did.. is there a way to 'unlock' it???

PS. I updated my Nero 5.5 to 5.5.10.42 but still no luck with it... after it tries to erase for 2 seconds it ends giving me the same error msg... (i tried both quick and full erase).. but thx anyways~~ any other suggestions are very much welcomed~

    Hi YiFai,
I think I've to give you my excuses . The store where I bought my Pc which "materially" erased the dvd-rw (I was upgrading my configuration so I asked them also this favour) told me it was just a question of upgrading Nero.
I called them again and as I said they used Nero 5.5.10.42 but... with another burner (no LG)!!
I throw them a lot of *** 'cause I too didn't believe it was just a question of upgrading Nero! In fact I had asked to try with a different burner on another machine but, I repeat, they initially said they did the job with my machine.
So I think the only possibility you have is to find a friend or a shop with a different burner and ask him/them to give it a try.
I'm (now) pretty sure you'll succeed.

If you have access to ANOTHER DVD-RW drive, erase it there. I've had to do that before. Drive A refuses to delete that session. Nice when you have many drives at your disposal. Hopefully you have more than one or know somebody that has a drive.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  21. I got some Princo dvd-rw's and I cannot erase them. I've tried every program out there including the latest Nero 6. I've got firmware A108 according to dvdinfo.

I'm gonna try some Ritek and see how they work. If that doesn't work I'm taking this sucker back.
