  1. How many vertical lines/pixels does a 16:9 widescreen TV have??

I just bought a 16:9 TV and am so accustomed to doing resizing based on my previous 4:3 TV's 480 vertical lines..

    480 pixels is not 480 lines ..

as for your wide screen tv ... if you are going to use it w/ dvd .. its still the same resolution (on the dvd) - just now you can properly use 16:9 DAS

if you want to know how many lines of resolution your tv is able to do --- look in the manual is best way (or on the box)

Lines of resolution also relates to the first axis,
as in FIRSTxSECOND (as in 720x480) is 720 resolution.

    All NTSC analog is x480.

The words "vertical" and "horizontal" are often used improperly, so I try to just not use them to keep matters simple.

This can be proven through oscilliscope comparative measurements.

  6. So what is the actual measure of what the TV can handle? Or what's difference b/t 'lines of resolution' vs. 'pixels'.. ?

My TV is compatible with 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i... So are these frames, pixels, lines, etc.. ? thanks.
