    What is Quicktime? I've players to download,but in my browsing I've never seen an encoder for quicktime. Can I encode in Quicktime or should I? Is it a format with quality? I'm confused.

    Perhaps that'll help a little

    It's just another format, such as .avi or .wmv

    There are numerous codecs for it that range greatly in quality.

    Quicktime is the player that Apple produces to playback .mov files as well as other formats. It can be downloaded from www.apple.com.

    I'm not 100% sure about the encoding to the '.mov' format so I'll leave that to one of the Mac guys. As to whether or not you want to encode to .mov depends on the purpose of the file. If you wish to put a file up on the web for people to download then it is a viable option however if you want to view it on a TV or have greater compatibility then you make want to look at say encoding the file into MPEG format.

    The quality of ".mov" varies like any other format depending on the bitrate and the encoder themself. If done correctly (look at the movie trailers that come in Quicktime format) then the quality is quite good.

    You can buy QuickTime pro if you want to encode QT movies, or you can use some of the other converters/transcoders. EditStudio says you can encode to QT with just the QT player version, but I have never tried it.
    Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

    Just another sucky MAC implementation of a standard Microsoft product
    Boycott any site that uses it, like most experienced internet users

    Then again, you'll miss most of TGPO's movies :P :P
