Although I am not really new to conversion, I am new to DVD conversion, and recently, my hard drive died and I was forced to buy a new one and download all the programs I used to have before once more.
My problems is that, although I used to have no problem converting from avi to dvd before, the new versions of TMPGenc have only two types of audio to choose from now, these are:
Linear PCM audio and,
MPEG-1 layer II audio (MP2).
I have tried encoding with both of these options, but when it comes to authoring ( I have used both ULEAD DVD movie factory 2 and TPMGenc DVD author ), when I burn the DVD there is NO sound at all. Just what is going wrong? I have never had this problem before with the old TMPGenc just this new one. And I DO have all the codecs that I used to have (Gordian Knot).
(I am using version 2.59.47.155 of TMPGenc)
Help me please, I am at my wits end![]()

I suggest you have MF2 produce a titleset on your HD rather than burning directly to DVDr. This way you can test the vob files in PowerDVD to make sure everything is OK before burning.
BTW, I believe there is a setting in MF2 that tells it to re-encode audio to either LPCM or mp2, irrespective of the source audio type. If this is set to mp2 and your DVD player does not support this, well, you figure the rest out. -
Cheers bugster,
I now have re-encoded the audio to ac3 and multiplexed it back into the mpeg file, and hey presto - sound is back!!
I owe you one mate, you were a big help.
