  1. I've put together a multimedia computer, with the intent of doing things like DVD backing up,recording music, and transferring VHS tapes to disc.
The puter has a Lite-On DVD drive, and the new Plextor 8X burner.
I've managed to successfully back up several DVD's so far,but have found several that have copy protection.
Is this Alcohol program what I need,to be able to make back-ups,or is there something better?
    Thanks for any help.

You're like the pilot who has just bought a plane and is ready to "take it up", or the SCUBA diver who has just bought $2000 worth of gear and is itching to "breathe canned air" - and has woefully neglected any of the requisite training.

To your left (that's <<<-- this way), you will find a number of "How-to" guides, tools, a glossary, and many, many more useful items for the newbie like you. Please spend about a week reading this stuff before you start asking this type of question. No offense, but what you have asked has been answered oh so many times before.
