I just ripped a DVD movie to my hard drive using DVD Shrink so I could fit it on 1 disc. Next I want to burn the file to a disc using DVD Decrypter. I realize I must convert the VIDEO_TS file to an ISO file before Decrypter will burn the disc. This is where my problem begins. Using ImgTool, Classic .90 I tried converting to ISO. When I do the Imgtool gives me a error message "can not find VIDEO_TS directory. This directory must exist below the given scource directory".

When I ripped with DVD Shrink I saved the file under folder name "Green Berets", when I open the folder the VIDEO_TS file is clearly there and the "Green Berets" file is what I am clicking on as scource file in ImgTool. What am I doing wrong or is there another freeware I can use to convert the VIDEO_TS file to an ISO file so it can be burned with Decrypter. Windows XP operating system. Thank you for your help.

  2. your vob files must reside here

    \movie\VIDEO_TS

when you select the source with ImgTool Classic
    you must choose
    \movie

I did exactly as you say but still get the error message.

  4. In my experience, Imgtool is very picky about the trailing slash "\"....

    VOB files are in G:\VIDEO_TS

    i.e. G: will work whereas G:\ won't work...

    try it.

How about getting a burning program that doesn't need
    an image.

For Imgtool . pick the folder ABOVE the VIDEO_TS

...and don't make folder names with spaces in them like
"Program Files" Thats' stupid. Yes Bill Im talking to you

Foo, I have a burning program that does not need an image, I was just trying this as a quality comparison since reading on this site that an iso image is better quality than VIDEO_TS. Thanks for the suggestion though.

There can't be a quality difference. There may be a compatibility
difference, some programs may mess up burning the files instead
    of the ISO.

So far I have used Clonedvd and dvdcopy from intervideo along with anydvd and both seem to work well with no problems so far. So what you are saying is that iso files would be no better than backing up using the aforementioned programs? Thanks for the help and advice. I am new at this and just want to make sure I am getting the best video and audio quality possible since I am backing up some 200 titles.

I always make files so I can check them and add stuff before I waste
    a disk.
    It also saves a step

...and I'm not saying the All in One programs work. My best example is
MovieFactory. Made a good DVD but couldn't burn for shit, even on an A03
which is the oldest burner around.
