Converting an MPG file to an ISO file.
I am still digging my way up.
I just loaded an .MPG file that I generated. The SVCD2DVD software says it will burn an .MPG file onto a DVD. This means you have generated an ISO image file equivalent along the way.
My question, how to convert an MPG file into an .ISO file without physically burning a CD?
The answer is probably obvious, but I missed it.

I think MrZ wants an authored DVD ISO, not a data disc ISO with the MPG as a file in it.
If the latter was the case, I'd just suggest Folder2ISO.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
Thanks I will give those suggestions a try.
Sorry about the terminology gap. I should have provided my exact goal. Possibly there are other suggestions.
1. I have many very old VHS tapes that will never be made available on DVD. Recording tapes have been designed to only have a life of around 20 or so years, and many of my tapes are already there. If they were available on DVD, this would not be an issue.
2. I use a Pinnacle RGB converter to convert these old tapes to an MPG file on a memory stick, which I transfer to my hard disk.
3. At this point in the process, the MPG will play on my computer so I can examine the conversion results and their quality. It will not play on a DVD player connected to a normal television set,
4. At this point I wanted to create an ISO file that I could mount with Virtual Clone Drive and examine without actually burning DVD physical media.
5. Once I get my process debugged, then I would then like to create a real region-free DVD that will play in my DVD players connected to a television set and not a computer.
I do not know what I am doing yet, so I expect to have to experiment a lot, and I need visibility into the intermediate steps of the creation process to see how I am progressing. Please tell me the correct terminology. -
I know exactly what you are trying to do and you can author a DVD using MPG files and create an ISO image that you can test with Virtual Clone Drive before burning to DVD media.
All apps listed here are freeware
To author the DVD use:
DVDFlick
(Note: if the MPG files are directly compatible with DVD formats you won't even have to reencode them. This is an advanced option of DVDFlick but a bit of reading will enlighten you if you don't know)
To burn the DVD use:
Imgburn
I hope this helps.Intel Core i7 920
Windows 7 Pro -
Thanks.
You confirmed my initial suspicions: I was trying to use a sledge-hammer to crack a peanut. I downloaded and installed the two recommended programs and their documentation. Now to read the docs and create a useful product!
Even at this very early stage, it has helped a lot!
Again thanks.
