  1. First off, thanks to everyone for their posts and help. This is my first, but was able to determine that TMPGEnc DVD Author was the best program for what I do and it is! I love it.

My problem is that while I'm editing my captured video, I don't get any sound. I like to go in and add chapters at specific points, but it is hard w/o having the sound. So far, I've plopped my original in a separate player and try and cue them so I know where to add the chapter. Is there any way I can get sound to work while in this edit mode?

    Thanks again-
    Jeff

  2. Read this..

i supposed you have muxed the ac3 with your m2v file to get an mpeg dvd compliant file. Try playing it in PowerDVD. If you can hear it and TMPGDVD cannot, it 's OK to proceed to author. The final disc will be able to played in your standalone. You may need an ac3 capable soundcard

    and this..

Yes it's normal . To hear ac3 you have to install the ac3 decoder codec. POwerDVD can auto select the ac3 deocder to played your file . In winDVD I supposed you have to manually select the right decoder. I don't use winDVD.I don't know. Not all software can played ac3 even though you may have installed the codec e.g TMPGDVD Author etc..

  3. The final DVD comes out fine, with perfect sound. It's just when I'm in editing mode that I can't hear anything. It might just be the way the program is....

    Thanks-

I can hear mpeg audio and wav audio but no ac3 in the editing mode. And I have powerdvd installed and I have also tested with ac3 decoder.

You could convert ac3 file to mpa/wav - use that file to cue up chapters with audio - then change audio input source later!
