  1. Hi Freinds,

The problem I faced after downloading *.avi files from P2P networks are too big to fit in a 80 or 90 min CD.

So can anyone can suggest me about how can I fit a big avi or mpg file to my 80/90 mins or even 99 mins CDs.

Note: big avi files mean like - a movie which shows 635Mb but when tried for VCD it is showing 131.33 min which can't fit to a CD!

    Thanks

  2. An avi file is NOT a VCD format. You need to split the movie into two halves and ues each half to make a VCD.

I see, said the blind man to the deaf woman.

Don't confuse AVI file size with VCD/SVCD file size, they aren't related. A 700 MB AVi can be 30 minutes or 3 hours, 160x120 or 1024x768 in resolution.

VCD is 80 minutes per disk, fixed in bitrate, codec, and resolution.

SVCD is more variable, but the resolution is fixed. The Video and Audio bitrate have a maximum sum of 2550 kbps. This translates to roughly 40-60 minutes per disk.

So can anyone can suggest me about how can I fit a big avi or mpg file to my 80/90 mins or even 99 mins CDs.
Can't be true. Either you have an AVI or an MPG. 98% of P2P files will fit on a disk. 700 MB for an AVI, and 800 MB for VCD/SVCD.
If you avi is 1300-1400 MB, then cut it in 2 with VDUB, 1950-2100 MB then cut it into 3 parts.

If you want to watch them in a standalone player, then convert them to VCD or SVCD or KVCD using the guides.

To view the file, you have to convert avi to mpg. I recommend using TMPGEnc to convert. If they wont fit on the cd, then lower the bitrate and you should be able to burn. Good luck.
