Ok Im confused... I have been reading on here that changing your sample rate to 44khz will make you fit alot more video on a dvd, but if I make my mpg 44khz the dvd has no audio on it. when I go back to 48khz everything is good. what am I missing here?

sup dawg
the standard for dvd's is 44.8 sample rates
44.1 sample rates will either cause audio sync and/or no audio at all. -
ight thanks man. did u mean 48 is dvd? anyway.... so whats all this talk about lowering the audio to get more video?

The only supported sample rate for audio in the DVD standard is 48kHz. The only way changing your audio could have an effect on video is if you lowered your audio bitrate, thus allowing you to raise your video bitrate. But lowering the sampling frequency is not going to affect the size, and its not supported anyway. Just use 48kHz, there is no reason to use anything else when making a DVD.

and/or going with ac3 vs pcm, right?

I thought The DVD spec calls for up to 192 Kbp - not that you would need to go that high.

Max in DVD-Audio spec:
192kHz w/2ch, 96kHz with 4 or more channels, IIRC. This is independently configurable in authoring/encoding stage.
