  1. Hi there,

Just found Subtitle Workshop and it looks great... however... it generates a subtitle file (in every format i like, althoug the don't ring a bell to me) but i don't know how to add it to a mpg2 file it't like to use for authoring when making a dvd.

Can anyone tell me what the next step has to be? Or what software to use to get this done?

    Thanx in advance.

    Go here: https://www.videohelp.com/guides?tools=2&madeby=&formatconversionselect=&osselect=&howto...or+List+Guides

About halfway down there are links to Guides - "How to Add Subtitles".

Tells you what programs to use, links to get them and step-by-step directions.

  3. Thanx for your reply. I read the guide and it looks good. However, i think, adding the subtitles with virtual dub make them permanent and that's not exacly what i want.

I want to make a video with 2 selectable voiceovers (but this i already figured out) and 2 selectable subtiles (one for each voice over), so viewers have to be able to switch.

Can you help me any further?
    Thanx in advance.

No I can't sorry. I don't use any programs capable of selectable audio tracks or subtitles. What do you use?

If you do a search there was a thread very recently that involved that. (Within the last couple/few days.) Perhaps it will be helpful to you.

    Good luck.

  5. addition:

so what i'm looking for is a piece of software that lets me select the following:

    - a video file
    - how many audio tracks (and which ofcourse)
    - a number of subtitles

After this, i'd like to make one file of it. A mpg2 or .vob file which i can use in dvdlab or some other authoring program.

    Hope i made myself clear.
    Thanx already.

Ifoedit can do both I think, I'm not sure about the subtitles because I'm a little new to DVD making. But I pretty sure subtitle is the same as subpicture so it should work.

Also you can try ReelDVD fixes both Max 3 audio streams & 3 subtitles. ReelDVD is avalible for trial, check the Tools section.

Here is for the audio tracks:
