Software burning problems...

I bought a NEC ND-1300A burner that now has firmware version 1.07 and have been trying to burn "The Matrix" onto a 4.7GB DVD-R by compressing the files and placing them in a VIDEO_TS folder.

I haven't been able to burn one DVD-R successfully yet. I first got a LEDA 1x DVD-R, and realized that 1x won't work. I just got the 3'rd generation Matrix 4x DVD-R and was told by the company I bought them from they were compatible with my burner if I had firmware version 1.07.

I have tried burning with Nero 6.0, but that wouldn't even recognize the burner. I then trialed a Nero 6.x version and it recognized my burner. But it would fail on simulation for DVD-Video, or freeze on UDF/ISO. RecordNow DX would simulate discs until it was on about 97% then fail with the 1x DVD-R's. With the new 4x DVD-R's, RecordNow DX will begin simulating then immediately fails.

I even tried to use Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 and ImgTool to create an ISO. But Movie Factory 2 freezes up. And ImgTool states that it can't find a Video_TS or some Video_TS.IFO file for v0.89, or that it can't find a VIDEO_TS directory and it must be in the given directory for v0.90 B7.

Does anyone know what I have to do to burn a DVD-R?

I'm not sure what the cause of your problem is, but you might want to check some of the guides here just to double check you did everything correctly.
