  1. Is it possible to do that? I have a friends dvd i'd like to backup
but i dont want to spilt on 2 dvd's. I have dvdmeastro, so
i dont mind reauthoring but i'd like 2 know how, the guides i
found thru the search didn't work, perhaps someone knows
how i can backup the dvd with BOTH menu's ?

    I'd like something like:

    Root Menu : Choise between menu 1 ( side a ) or menu 2 ( side b ).
    Menu 1
    -Movies
    Menu 2
    -Movies

Who can help me out ?

this is how I did a Friends DVD joining

I used DVDShrink to rip each episode to my HD at 100% using reauthor but I cropped the intro soundtrack bit which saves quite a bit of space as it's in each eppisode. So I had the beginning minute or so for each episode and then the rest of the episode. I also removed audio/subs I didn't want when ripping. I rejoined the two VOB's of the episode so I now had all the episodes from both sides without the daft intro each time saving space. Removing the intro is upto you

I used DVDLab as you can just drag and drop the complete VOB's into it without demuxing

I created a Root menu with an image scanned from the box and used that as my background image and created buttons from that and used the 'I'll Be There For You' as the background music as well as sticking a few chapter points in

you could create a Side A, Side B option which points to the original menu for each side. These Side menus would then link to each episode but why not just put all episodes on one menu like I did?

DVDLab is simple to use once you know how but I'm not so sure how many audio/subs tracks it allows as I'm sure it was only one audio track when I did it

if you want to use another authoring tool then just demux the episode VOB's into the different streams and rebuild it that way

it's simple to do really and it only get's harder the more you want to make it more professional

    the choice is yours

  3. Mackem, did U manage to keep subtitles AND add your own chapter points as when I tried similar with a disk I found it refused to add chapters to an existing VOB file. Hence I had a backup with no chapters over a 100 min file (not good).

I ain't used it in a while but I'm sure its got a feature where you can search for chapters hasn't it?

at the top in the Movie drop down window it should have auto chapters

or just double click the video you want and it will open up a slideshow and I think you just click where you want a chapter. You can even import chapters but Friends didn't have chapters to begin with so I didnt go that far

I'm not so sure I kept the subs anyway but I don't think you can keep subs as it was only video and one audio when I did it anyway

    maybe it's updated now

  5. Ah..... all comes clear

No, I tried to import the chapter list from txt file. Failed

Tried to manually set chapters. Failed

Basically it does not like doing it with VOB files cos they are processed under a "no remuxing" etc option.

I tried latest version of DVD Lab also.

  6. I understand your method and i was doing a similar.
What my main prob is though that i cant rip the subs
of the dvd directly and import them into dvdmeastro.
I need 2 use ocr on them with subrip first, which is
a time consuming effort and it happens a lot that
even with my interference the subs aren't 100 % correctly
spelled, and i really dislike bad subs.
If someone would know a workaround 4 that i'd be saved....

I wonder how I put chapters in mine then? I 'm sure I never demuxed the VOB's as I just dropped the VOB's in. I can't really remember so maybe I did demux it but I can't see why I would do that seeing as I only had one audio and no subs anyway

there is a guide to get more audio elsewhere in the forum using DVDLab if that's any good to anyone
