  1. I converted vcd files to dvd files using tmpgenc plus and then authored using tmpgenc author.

There are half the files missing on my dvd-r. Could it be that the vcd-mpeg1 files had errors or what?

1.) You need to give this much more than a couple of hours to expect a reply. Wait a few days. We all have to many times.

2.) If you want any useful answers you need to provide way more information. File types, conversion method, what files do you believe are missing?, what files are included?, etc. etc. etc.

  4. I got a music vcd with avseq.dat files on it.

I used vcd gear to change to mpeg files. I then used tmpgenc plus to convert dvd (mpeg2) files with the ES(video+audio) option. This saved the mpeg2 and mp2 files seperately in a folder.

Then I went to tmpgenc dvd author and added files and created a menu. Then I copied the dvd folder to my hard drive and went back to tmpgenc dvd author and copied the dvd folder to a dvd-rw before doing it to a dvd-rw.

Now, I played the dvd in my computer and on dvd player. The dvd has 22 songs and I put 6 songs per page for the menu. Only the first 6 appeared and the last 4 appeared on the dvd. Why would this be?

    QUESTIONS

    1. Should I have selected "Fix Mpeg errors" when converting in vcd gear?

    2. Should I have done a different option in tmpgenc plus rather than "ES (video+audio)?

    3. Should I make iso files to hard drive in tmpgenc dvd author and then put the iso files on the dvd-rw?

I might suggest you examine your DVD with Ifoedit to see whether
your files really got there or the navigation is messed up.

  7. Hey,

Maybe you should consider to author the vcds with tmpgenc author to a dvd without encoding. Gives you a few advantages but also some disadvantages

    pro:
    - you can put more vcds on 1 dvd
    - you don't get quality lose by reencoding

    con:
    - you need reencode your audio to 48khz (you an use svcd2dvd to do that in batch, it can even create your dvd's if you buy the program)
    - your dvd player needs to play vcd-dvds.

  8. I got ifoedit and I went to play the dvd but it came up with:

"WARNING 1 out of 3 DVD-Video Streams failed to render properly-audio stream"

How do I know if the video files on the disc are faulty, what option do I need to use?

  9. the best way to see if your streams are faulty is by demux and mux the audio and video streams with tmpgenc.

Yes the DVD play sometimes doesn't work.
It used to. dunno what happened. anyway

    You open VTS_01_0.ifo

If you double click on things under PGC_1 it will
show the clips in a window.
You can check for a reasonable play time and lots of other stuff

You can also play the DVD files while they are still on the computer
with WIN DVD to see if the burning process was at fault.

    Luke23,

Since you will gain nothing and potentially make the video worse, I'd recommend keeping the video at VCD specs. VCD video is also a valid DVD spec. The only thing you need to do is convert the audio to 48k and you can fit as many as you can on the DVD, as someone else has mentioned.

I do this all the time with TV episodes. Capture in VCD, convert audio and then author to DVD. ANY dvd player should play them if they meet dvd specs. I happen to use Ulead MF2 since it will author the DVD with simply setting it to not convert the video and letting it convert the audio. This is just fine for episodes. For music videos, you may want to use something better to maintain the audio quality as close as possible. I use besweet for best results.

    So, here's what to do:

    - Get VCDs
    - Demux
    - Resample audio to 48k
    - Remux
    - Author DVD
    Have a good one,

    neomaine
