I think this subject has been posted before. Sorry I couldn't find it in the forum. My question is regarding WIN 98SE FAT 32 that does not support files bigger than 4 GB. It is my understanding if running XP or WIN2000 PRO the files are able to be more than 4 GB because it is NTFS.
I'm researching info before I purchase a dvd burner. My question is if I continue to use WIN 98 SE will I be able to back up my dvd movies successfully on dvd-r or dvd+? Or is it necessary to upgrade to WIN2000 PRO or XP?
Debating yet whether to purchase the PLEXTOR 708 internal or external dual dvd burner.
Thanks in advance! I appreciate any advice anyone has for me.![]()

The limit in FAT32 in 4GB *per individual file*. This does not mean that you cannot have a VIDEO_TS *folder* that is greater than 4GB. As long as none of the individual files (VOB, etc.) are greater than 4GB (highly unlikely), you should be OK.
