At WPC Expo the CD-R/RW max write speed was specified to use Z-CLV technique but as you can see it now looks like the DRU-530A uses CAV/P-CAV technique instead which is a good thing. It however also looks like Sony has reduced the buffer size from the 8 MB in DRU-500A/510A to "only" 2 MB in the DRU-530A. You can find the full specifications of the Sony DRU-530A at:

The DRU-530A will be available some time in December for estimated retail price of $270.

This tech specifications sounds extremely similar to Plextor's PX-708A ?
Has Sony started to use Sanyo chipsets also?
