Help with dvd+rw works but dvd+r don't

Using a Micro Advantage DVD+-RW. I can author a dvd movie and burn it to a +rw and it plays fine in 2 different players. When I burn the same dvd movie to a +R it wont play. +RW are Phillips and +R are TDK. Any solutions? Bad media? I checked and both players are compatible...arghh

You could be using the wrong book type. I had the same problem you're expereincing on my Memorex (Ricoh) until I corrected the Compatability settings. This link may help:

If you use Nero, make sure that "DVD-ROM" is ticked before you burn.

This happened to me when I tried burning with CopyToDVD. What burning app are you using?

After reading some more I found out that I was not finalizing my burns on the +r's using Nero....I will report back after I try some more...Thanks for the inputs

Which setting are you using in Nero? I don't know of any DVD video setting that makes finalizing an option.

In Nero I just selected dvd-rom and continue multisession disk and wrote a .txt file to my DVD+R and and made sure finalize was also selected. They will play on my Go-Video but not the Sony player.

What version of Nero are you using, I have version 6, and have this same problem, but on v6 the optin to change the book type is not there, only on v5.5

SIMES, Sony drives dont support bitsetting at the moment

Mich, That is the only way I can find to make Nero 6 close a +R disc. I guess I am still confused. What do you use to author and burn?

I reread your posts and it sounds like you are burning with an app that doesn't finalize the disc and then you are using Nero to try and finalize the disc. Is that right?

It's greyed out, but it's checked. That means Nero will finalize and that you can't change that setting.

Rebadged by who? Whats its firmware? Buffersize?

I'm using Nero 6. The DVD-ROM option is still there for me. It comes up on the screen after selecting the BURN icon.

Only Ricoh type burners and the latest BenQ support bitsetting at the moment.
Your Memorex is one of them (oem Ricoh5125)!

Other drives firmwares just do not support it. Believe me!

Tom...Unable to determine...sticker on the drive say Micro Adv, Frimware 0038 and 2mb buffer....I'm gonna try -R tonight....
