  1. I have these funky scrolling words at the bottom of my avi placed there by the group who encoded it saying "if you like this then visit irc.bla.net" and it happens periodically but is extremely annoying. i would like to simply blur or mask just that section of the avi until it stops scrolling... I have done a search on this site and i found out about a couple of vdub filters (Delogo, LogoAway,) but none of these seem to be able to blur specific sections of the avi. they just apply a "mask" to the whole video. Region remover actually does take out a frame specific section, but it makes that masked area look awful. Is there anything else that will give me a more likable result? I really like the way LogoAway works.. just if only i can keep it in between a certain amount of frames..

  2. Just crop the video so you don't see the small portion on the bottom.

I use the logoaway filter which can be adjusted to blur the affected portion of the video picture. If you only want to apply it to the affected frames then you can do it two ways. You can cut the picture into little bits and filter the parts that need it, this sucks and is time consuming. The best way is to frameserve using avisynth which can be programmed to apply the filter only to the frames that are required. Here's a link with more info.

  4. Nice speedy reply.

I hadn't thought to try and cut the vid up to use the filters on specific areas. thats actually a good idea becuz i would use tmpeg for that, and thats no foriegn territory for me. As far as Avisynth goes, i have no clue how to use that program. But thanks for the tips, Zippy..

Delogo has a little text box where you put frame ranges
to limit its action to certain areas.

Vdub has a "conditional" filter that can select which frames to
    apply any filter to.

Using TMPGenc for that is not appropriate. IT WONT WORK
