I have another thread surrounding problems with burning and errors so although this is related it is a totally different topic.
Yesterday I took a disk that had a burn error message from Nero and tried to run it in my Sylvania SSD803. The session ended with a data or read error from the source. Anyway I wanted to see if the disk would even play so I loaded it up.
Needless to say it ran fine till the end of the movie and then locked up at a chapter change. No big deal I think till I tried to move backward one chapter and nothing happened. I ejected the disk and reloaded it. This time the player would not even spin it up. I next took an original movie and put it in. Again same result. Player can not find the disk.
Since the player is under warranty its no big deal to get it replaced but I am wondering why, how it died.

All the hardware now including PCs with Windows can
be remotely destroyed by the MPAA as a way to "discourage" pirates -
Did you try unplugging the player from the mains supply for more than 10 secs ? Worked for me when disc-hanging occured.

Internal reset?? Yeah, I tried that one. Left it unplugged for over an hour and still nothing. Thanks anyway.

It's not dead, it's just resting after a long squawk.
