Can anyone tell me in short 3 answers how to get rid of those things![]()
Simple deleting doesn't work on most of the files since they are protected system files.

You could use a live disc of linux and not use windows at all if they bug you that much.

You're being a little too paranoid. Just hide the folders and don't use the programs. There's no way to really get rid of those programs. You could just also delete those files but I'm not guaranteeing that you won't mess up your system by doing so.

delete the NON-SHARED files contained in their respective subdirs (within
"C:\PROGRA~1\ "). I advise not to remove the directories, just empty them.
Warning: this will not work at all if your Winchester is NTFS --- DOS 7.xx cannot
read NTFS volumes >_< Perhaps you will also need to use the so-called
safe-mode and edit the registry in order to erase possible system calls to
some of the deceased files.
Hope this works for you (if you were using Windows 95, it surely would).

restores the cr*pware. Quite annoying indeed.
BTW
I have NTFS
I believe it is already time to re-format it in FAT32 and have an experiment with a
cleaner installation.

I GOT RID OF IT AND THIS IS HOW:
1- get KILLBOX, its beautifulI don't remember where I got it from, you can search or get from my desktop, I am online non-stop pretty much
2- open it (doesn't require installation) and browse for 1 file
3- if it is a *.dll file than put a check mark in the box "unregister before deleting" and put another check in box "delete on reboot"
Works like a dream, although takes a little bit, because you have to do it 1 file at the time.

And MSN is still running even though it is uninstalled from Windows components and I already removed a couple of files with KillBox

You don't need that to disable it, frankly I'm suprised its on and you don't get pop-ups. You can disable it in the services panel.

Just my .02 but I think you're going a little overboard. Any exploit in WMP you've read about will have either been fixed or is not really an exploit. The best protection in the world is the person sitting in front of the keyboard. If you keep your software like your browser, virus and firewall up to date, stay away from sites where you shouldn't be and don't open anything you shouldn't then the chances of getting infected by something are nil. it's people surfing the Internet with bad habits or outdated software that get hit. Only exception to that is you are one of the unfortunate people that get infected with something that is new and most likely even after all you have gone through you'll still be vulnerable because these are usually Browser or OS exploits.
-
You probably right about that. I just want to get rid of everything that is popping-up and WMP is one of those really annoying.
Just compare this piece of crap to VLC. It takes forever to update to newest version and it doesn't even play videos or movies without codecs. VLC takes 2 minutes to install and you can do anything with it.moved to another forum, nobody likes me here...
