I just bought a DVD player so that i can play my anime VCDS and SVCDS which all have subtitles, and most of them are getting over expanded and the subs are being cut off the screen. Is there anything i can do about this? Would a different type/size tv make any difference? Also, i know some DVD players have zoom functions, would i be able to zoom the picture out on a VCD/SVCD?
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreicated
Thanks

The problem is most likley caused by the TV's overscan cropping the very top and bottom of the picture. All Tv's do this and there isn't really much you can do about it.
All I can think of of is that you can re-encode the (S)VCD's and letterbox them slightly. I.e., squash the picture by 20-30 pixels top and bottom, placing black bars in this region. The picture may look slightly squashed, but the subtitles should be visible. -
I would i swear but that would mean re-encoding about 300 cds, and that would take me forever.
Thanks for the idea anyways tho
