  1. According to this guide :

    http://www.gizmobob.com/dvd9-dvd5.htm

Using DVD Fab and Instant Copy you can split a DVD9 movie over 2 DVDs. The guide briefly deals with this so I want to know is it as simple as carrying out the instructions in step 2? Will a 2nd disk created with this method have it's own menu?

  2. It isn't too difficult... I burned my first DVD5 to DVD5 today. After 3 of those I have started burning DVD9s to 2 DVD5s.

This is how I do it.

I used DVD Decrypter just like directed in the link above.

Then I use DVDFab just like directed in the link above... I click on "Copy Complete DVD." At that point you just point the Source Path to the Video_TS DVD Decrypter created. It will automatically choose a destination path... I just leave that alone. At that point I click "Continue" and it just does its thing. The other screen shots and directions for DVD apply only if you choose “Strip/Split." I don't, because I want to copy EVERYTHING on the DVD. DVDFab will automatically choose a point to split the DVDs into Disk 1 and Disk 2.

When DVDFab is finished doing its thing... I depart from the link you posted. Instead of using InstantCopy I use CopyToDVD. I simply choose Video DVD, click on OK, then browse to the destination path DVDFab created. Open the disk one folder, open the Video_TS folder, choose the VIDEO_TS.ifo file, and CopyToDVD will burn DVD 1. Repeat the CopyToDVD directions but open the disk two folder and burn DVD 2.

As far as the menu... it only shows up on the first DVD. If you pop the 2nd DVD in it just starts playing.

I am as new and green at this as you can get, and the steps and software above are working very well for me. I hope this helps you out a bit!

  3. Thanks. I haven't got CopyToDVD so I'll try with Instant Copy.
