  1. I recently read Doug Mazinz's article on how to capture with Dazzle Hardware..I own a Dazzle DVC 150 USB and one his hints involved making the captured image look better by changing a setting in the Dazzle software..

I run MovieStar 5.2 and for the life of me cannot find an option to change any kind of settings at all...anyone with a similar device know of any hints or if I am just an idiot not looking in the right place

  4. You can change your capture settings under the tab "capture". From there, adjust the settings in the drop box to your liking (ie Movie qaulity, vcd quality, etc)

  5. I appreciate the help man, but I am not kidding when I tell U that I get no drop down menu to change settings on the capture tab....I now think I may have a glitch in the software. the only thing that happens when I click on the capture tab again is that the picture preview disappears, but that is all..like I said I am a total Nebie to this...

  6. despite it saying it was posted in April 2003, that article i wrote back in 1999 0r 2000 i believe. At any rate that version of the dazzle and its MS software are no longer used. i had sent in a massive update for that article but they either never got it or never fixed it when i sent it in---Perhaps i will type up a newer intro and explain as to what ver i was using, etc

    hi mazinz, and others..

yeah, but don't forget, that the Dazzle back then (mine was DVC I) was
a popular item, and good quality (back then) The DVC I (usb) was a good
model, even when I used it then, and complained a few times cause I had
theorized that they made some changes along the way of quality. I still
have mine, boxed near by (just had it in my hand the other day, rembering
the good old days hehe) anyways.. So, w/ respect w/ mazinz's article, it
was probably good in it's time

Some day, when I get my act together and clean up my daily cluttered
pc desk and finish up on my many projects and things, I'll give the DVC I
another round of fun playing perhaps
I never junk any of my capture devices, other than the ones I tried, and
returned back to the store ie, AIW, DVC II, and a few others.

Between the Dazzle DVC I, ATI-TV Wonder, and Hauppague WinTV PCI, these
were my major capture devices ~ 3+ years ago, on an MMX 233MHz setup
    then.

  9. yeah currently, i have the dvc2 pci version which is no longer made (too bad because it was one of their best cards). the MS software was 4.24 with a beta of 4.25 and that was similar to the older ones where it let you pratically change whatever you wanted. For the hell of it i tested out one of the newer usb connections (dvd something it was called) and the MS software with it was terrible, not to mention since it was a usb connection it was only able to get a high bitrate of 7 or 8 where as the dvc2 can go up to 10, if needed
Back then when i wrote that article the dvc1 was prevaliant and the dvc 2 just came out. I wanted to add some info about that, as i gave some wrong info concerning the dvc2 in my article. Guess i will go back and revamp it.

  10. I had always wanted to use a PCI card, but I hate having to open the PC and shove stuff in there....it'll take me over an hour between unhooking cables, moving furniture, etc.

I never intended to capture stuff when I built the PC...If I had, I would've just used an ATI All In Wonder card....I want to build another PC just for that purposei n one of those new small cubes, but funds are tight right now, so I had to settle for an external.

I am rather disappointed in Dazzle though for not including a toll free number for tech support...in addition I wanted to get the Hauppage device but couldn't find it anywhere local...and I needed it ASAP cause my mom called and asked me to record episodes of the West Wing (her fav show which is currently being shown on Bravo from the pilot on) and burn em on VCDs for her so she could have em...I never once thought it would be this much of a pain...

anyways, thanks for all the input guys, I will keep at it and see what I can do

I'll Email U Kickn as soon as I can

    JB
