I'm having a great deal of trouble with my video capture technology these days. I'm using Pinnacle Studio 10 (with patches 10.7 and 10.8) with Dazzle Video Creator Platinum.

All of a sudden, my software won't run with the active 10.8 patch. I'm getting tired of fighting with this software, and I've heard that Dazzle won't work with any other software.

Can you guys answer my burning question, and tell me what video capture technology you use? Does it work well for you? I'd like to move away from Pinnacle software.

    Thanks in advance!

I would like to make an edit: I am ABANDONING this product.

When uninstalling Studio 10, it told me I must upgrade to XP Service Pack 2. I've got Service Pack 3 already. Then, after using Pinnacle's RegDelete app and their tedious Pinnacle software clean procedure, I decided that this I'm ready to part with this software.

Thanks, Zoobie, for your info...other contributions are much appreciated as I would like to either use my Dazzle or go with better equipment...

Sorry to hear that. Been there myself. I understand your pain too well...

    Good move!

Sarcasm aside, the Dazzle line of video capture/edit/whatever is TOTAL CRAP! Their hardware "towers" are nothing more than a cheap toy. Not only that, they are proprietary and completely usesless with any other software that may get it to work. I repeat in case it's unclear: TOTAL CRAP! But you don't need my word for it. All you have to do is read the reviews online for it and it will echo my sentiments.

Excuse my post’s firmness, but I suffered greatly through two such products from 1999 to 2004 from Dazzle who contributed my worst moments ever to this hobby of mine – a fiasco of buggy software, hanging applications, corrupt streams, sync issues, etc. The agony never ended and the product never worked. If only I read the reviews in advance.

It’s amazing I still have a full head of hair…

I currently have been using a DVR for over 4 years now. No, it’s not the purest solution among the hardcores, but it’s solid, high quality, reliable (VERY reliable) and it’s a stand-alone unit that doesn’t hog any of my PCs.

It wasn't the money on Dazzle that I spent that bothered me. It was the hours of frustration. It was so bad that I bought a DVR when they were super expensive back then. But I don't regret it one bit since the problem was solved.

The nice thing about Dazzle was that when I abandoned the product they did fully remove my email from their mailing list when I asked them to. That was class at least.

    Which one? That obvious?

I think the most recent on this forum was here:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic347809.html

At the VideoStudio forums I bash the Dazzle/Pinnacle edit software compared to using VideoStudio:

Later down in this DivX thread I show a little open-mindedness (not that I'm not... I think ) . I guess if you mod somewhere you have to be professional... :P

Seriously, we all buy bad products, so it's not that big a deal. My sarcasm was really spurned by the fact that after all that frustration the Dazzle support was completely non-existent. No returned phone messages. Calling long distance only to hear an endless message saying it could take up to 3 hours to get a rep...ignoring my email messages... If they at least tried to help me that would have been acceptable enough.

  7. Well the softwares i use there are two

    (analog)
for cable/sat: windvr3 (mpeg2- dvd non compliant format)

for cable/vhs fly2000tv (avi / mpeg2- dvd non compliant format)

Plus another one for the 100% digital signals which doesn't concern you i think.

Pinnacle 10 not only has a bad design but seems to be buggy ,as usual i'd say.

I know the Studio XX line, i had a Pinnacle DC10 plus like 4 years ago these softwares are ok to make a montage (not the finest though) certainly not to capture the signals.
