I have burned about 200 of them and at 2x on my Sony DRU500ax burner. The media is marked 1x but for some reason it burns at 2x for me. I haven't tried it in my Pioneer 105 burner yet to see if it will burn at 2x on that drive. I also use the CompUSA media in my Panasonic E50 recorder with zero problems. BTW my local CompUSA sells the 50 pack of this media for $45 and sometimes they have these one day sales offering another 30% off all DVD media.

dang thats tight
i might have to jump on these bad boys for good now
they are cheap as hell -
Got a 10 pack of -Rs about 4 months ago, found them to really suck. Of course they may be different disc by now.

The CompUSA 10-pack DVD-R discs are made by either Princo, LeadData, or Optodisc. Read the comment by A4 from the following link to distinguish these three manufacturers:

If your local CompUSA store has the discs made by Optodisc or LeadData, then wait for the next sale and grab them. If your local store has the Princo discs in stock, then don't bother. -
Hrmm... mine that I had trouble with (still have most of them) seem to be LDs, maybe I should give them another try. I have gotten my 105 since then.

The media pauses and then shuts down about half way through the movie. I did get two out of ten discs to play correctly in all of my drives. I use DVD Shrink and Record Now to burn. The only other media that I've had problems like that with is USDM from cdrom2go.com. I believe the ones that I got from CompUSA were made by Optodisc.

I bought a couple of 10-packs of DVD-R for $9.99 each from compusa.com, and I have used them a few times with no problem. The ones I got were 1X Princos, but I figure as long as I don't try to put more than about 4.3 GB on a disk, I'll be OK. Usually with cheap media, you have more problems as you try to burn closer to the hub.
However, I have heard some horror stories about Princos degrading over time and becoming unreadable. First they become unreadable in your standalone player, but can still be read by your computer. Later they become unreadable, period. If the first stage occurs, you should hurry up and back up your Princos to some higher-quality media before it's too late.
You just never know about Princos. Their quality seems to vary from mediocre to crap. If you get the mediocre ones, consider yourself lucky. -
thanks for the info.. I read on and I saw that at this time there is no way to the the info for dvd+r at this time.

Y2flyy,
There's a tool mentioned in the Tools section of this website, named "DVD Plus Identifier " that is supposed to get disk info from the ADIP area of DVD +R. I tried it with my Sony DRU-510A and it said that ADIP wasn't supported on my drive, and it recomended a firmware upgrade. I still have the original firmware and it works fine, and I wasn't about to upgrade it just for this software. Not to mention that the Sony firmware upgrade might or might not help the situation.
However, I noticed today that there is a new version that supposedly fixes some "compatiblity issues". So maybe I'll try it again and see how it works. You might want to check this out as well. -

The -R's in the 50-pack spindles also are Optodisc.
