I'm capturing some old 80s cartoons, and I was wondering if there were "standard framerates" for cartoons. There aren't any 29fps cartoons, are there (except for maybe the 3D stuff)? Aren't they all 14.95 or 15fps? I have one particular cartoon (Curious George) that is mostly still frame, but every now and then there's a small animated scene. Is there any way to find out how many FPS it is? Thanks a lot.

If it's shown on TV the it's 29.97fps, the characters just don't move that much
Now it's true that it wasn't drawn at 29.97fps but it was telecined or converted to 29.97fps somehow.
If you're capturing from a VHS source, just do so at 29.97 and you'll be fine. The real problem is the new anime stuff. It's a mixture of 23.976fps, 29.97fps and 60fields/s.
