  1. I keep getting errors on my encodes ..wavey lines wobbly hard to describe ...i can't do a screen capp cuase the error does not appear in the capped image

    I capp using vdub
Picvideo 19 force yuy2 output ticked

    Using this script

    AVISource("C:\CAPTURE.AVI")
    Trim(10000,12000).Fadeout(120)
    Crop(8,2,338,558)
    LanczosResize(352,576)

    Encode using CCE 2.62
    Elementary streams
    Bottom field first
    Zig Zag order

    Average 2608 min 300 max 9000
Gop 15 image quality 25 no anti noise

    Then using DVDlab author......

Play back in DVd player all wobbly

Now when i use the script without resize and crop in TMPGEnc the file is perfect.

    Whats going on

    Some thoughts i have

Field order ( have tried both ways)
    Using a lower max bitrate
Is it possible that using the force yuy2 out put stuffs the encode cuase it is changing colourspace

I am really at a loss

When the file is view on Intervideo it plays without an error but when played on a standalone or on Power DVD the error occurs.

I have used and encoded coutless times but this is the first capped video conversion to DVd i have done ....I use good media (Ritek G04 Laser RW)
I have tried using other versions of Avisynth and other resizers (have even resied and frameserved with vdub...to no avail)..i have unistalled dvd lab and other edvd authoring software AAARRRGGGHH

  4. the error does not appear in a capped pic....

I have it narrowed done to a corrupt avi file i beleive as i have done testing on other capped avi with the same setting s but no problem

  5. Well it seems that my theory of a corrupt file is wrong

To get it without errors i have to let tmpenc to the entire process which means going back to 30 hr encodes...until i solve this problem. Is it possible that my dvd burner is causeing the errors? i have uninstalled it but to no avail....still the problem persists........

It only happens when resizing/cropping.....is there a setting that need sto be iniaited??

  6. OK, I am pretty sure WinDVD de-interlaces on the fly while PowerDVD does not, so that would seem to indicate the problem lies in the interlacing, perhaps altered during the resize.

Try adding borders to bring it back to 352 x 576 instead of the resize, going up is never good, anyway.

  8. The problem is the error occurs on my TV also

So PowerDVD (same as ASUSXPDVD which is what iam using) shows the same error as one my TV.....

I am to beleive that is i deinterlace then i am taking away quality ....as it is ok for it to be interlaced??? maybe the video is progressive or teleclinded which i would doubt??

I beleive Nelson37 is correct. The resizing is not correctly made for interlaced material. The fields should be separated, then rezised and combined back again to interlaced, or the easier way, just crop and add borders, do not resize.

Here's a script that won't rezise, only replace the cropped area with black borders:

    AVISource("C:\CAPTURE.AVI")
    Trim(10000,12000).Fadeout(120)
    Crop(8,2,338,558)
    AddBorders(8,2,6,16)

Or even better (black out overscan area, block optimized for better comprssion):
    AVISource("C:\CAPTURE.AVI")
    Trim(10000,12000).Fadeout(120)
    Crop(8,16,336,544)
    AddBorders(8,16,8,16)
