All of a sudden certain MPEG 2 files I try to feed DVD MF II are showing incorrect in size. So DVDMF II will not handle.

Say I have a file , 3.9 GIG. I do an ADD VIDEO and it tells me I am trying to use 5.2 gig !!!

If I have a series f small files, they work fine. I look at the INFO on the bigger file and it says 3.9. But if I add it, ZING.

I wonder if this is related to re-encoding. I have defaults set for DO NOT RE-ENCODE MPEG COMPLIANT etc. but it want to do it anyway.

I would swear I read something in the forum on this but as I have never had a problem in this area before, I didnt pay attention.

I have tried several files. Anything close to 4 gig comes up as over 5 !

But anything smaller shows up fine. Help......

  2. Please see the following Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 tech support FAQ:

    It should fix your issue.

Thanks !!! Funny thing is, never had this trouble before but then again I was
    1) experimenting with a new bitrate
    2) Using the mainconcept encoder instead of TMPGenc

So it may have THOUGHT it was on-compliant...I will give it a whirl

    Nope ..No joy...worse actually.

The file size is according to ULEAD (clip info) 3,801,636 Kb or 3.8 gig

But according to the bottom bar it now says 6.4 gig !!! 2 hours and 1 minute

Before the patch it said 5.2 gig.

    BOTH WRONG

Sigh...I hate it when something is working and suddenly stops. I NEVER had this error.

  5. Have you tried going into your PROJECT FOLDER to clean out any old files that may exist?

I suspect what may be happening is these are causing Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 to cumulatively add file sizes for past projects.

  6. it sounds to me like you are using a MF2 template that is different then your added video. I had that problem a couple of times when I first started using the app.

for example, using a template calling for a 8000KBs bitrate with an MPG that is 4000KBs. MF2 will "assume" that it is to re-encode to the higher bitrate and extrapolate DVD size accordingly and display the size at the bottom.

Simply create a new template that uses the parameters of the MPEG-2 file you are using. You may also want to confirm and edit the template for CBR or VBR

  7. If you haven't fixed the bug, you may want to look at the sound files. I had a similar problem not too long ago. For some reason, my sound files had changed from mpeg audio to LPCM, and the file size I saw outside of MF2 increased quite a bit when imported into MF2. I have no idea why that preference changed, but once I restored it to mpeg audio, all was well again.

By george ! I think you have it...LOL

I noticed yesterday that the problem clips all showed 44100 2xxkb audio versus my normal 48000 384 kb audio.

    Thanks again !!!!!!!

I have just started using this application and am having exactly the same problem, a 1.2 gig file suddenly becomes 2.6 gig.

Do you need to re-encode or change a setting somewhere ?

Can you explain how you sorted problem.

    cheers.

  10. After you add a video clip, in the lower left hand corner are the two squares for preferences. Open the one on the right, with the check mark in it, "change mpeg settings," "customize," "compression" tab, "audio settings," and check to see if it says LPCM or mpeg. If it says mpeg, you've got a different problem. I'd like to know what we all did to change that. I'd done many many discs without a problem, and then it changed. Good luck
