I tried to rip some DVD with Smartripper, but end with error message saying that "some files can not be unlock!"

Is it because some DVDs really can't be rip or I am doing it wrong?

Remember to play the DVD for a minute to let it unlock itself. This usually works.

  6. I have noticed that lately when backing up some of my newer DVDs I get an error message that "This Disk has copy write protection" or something like that.(?)

Anyway I've been using DVD Shrink 3.5 Beta when I get the error. Usually if I switch to one of my other DVD drives the message does not appear. The strange thing is that I am running a Pioneer DVD-RW 105 and a Mitsumi DVD/ROM yet the error might appear on either of the players. Al I do is eject the disk and load it into the other one.

    Strange or not??

    YES!! the method WORKS!!

For those DVD that I can't rip, I just play it for few minutes using Power DVD 5, then all can successfully riped.

There is only 1 DVD still not success because can't even play on computer, but can play on standard DVD player.

I've found that playing each dvd for only a couple of seconds unlocks the files for ripping.
Except for one film. The fellowship of the ring extended dvd simply cannot be read by any ripping programs that I've used. It's certainly one hell of a copy protection they've got on it.
Also, you shouldnt use smartripper. as far as i know they havent updated it in years, and sometimes, when I've used it the resulting video image jumps up and down slightly. The ripping utility in DVD2SVCD always works fine for me though.

If you can play it, you can rip it.

the weird thing I'm finding lately is that I'll rip a disc, and Decrypter will freeze up.

then I'll try SmartRipper, and it will freeze on one file. I'll de-select that file, everything else rips like a charm.

then I pull the disc from my dvd-rom and put it in my burner, SmartRipper will rip the last file from that drive (slowly)...

    Drives are a Lite-On 16x and a Sony DRU-500AX.

This has happened with backing up "Dark Days" and Kurosawa's "Ran", along with a couple of others, the titles escape me.

    anyone else run into this?
