I am trying to capture some VHS/LDs using the Hollywood DV Bridge...both have Svideo out....on the SVHS, though, some older movies do not seem to have super resolution from the get-go. If they were not shot in as good as SVideo-type parameters is it a waste of time to use Svideo?..

Capturing with s-video may seem like a waste, but it won't add as many screen artifacts to your images keeping the capture closer to the original.
If your source is already bad then using anything other then s-video will make it worse.
However the difference may be so slight to your eyes that it may not matter, I'd suggest doing a test and see what your eyes tell you.
