I have a Panasonic Multidrive DVD burner in an external chassis. The chassis has both USB & Firewire ports. When I have the drive attached to my Sony Viao SR17 laptop, the drive only works properly when using the USB connection. If I use the firewire port, the drive shows up as a Oxford IDE SBP2 device, but it is read only. If I use the USB port, everything is fine. My OS is Win2k with service pack 2.
Does anyone else have this drive in a chassis, or this laptop with a different external device? I'm desparate. USB is so slow compared to firewire.
Thanks in advance.
