I am looking to convert .avi movie files with 5.1 surround onto DVD-R to watch on my TV via my standalone DVD player. I have search the forum but can't seem to find a guide that will provide the 5.1 surround on the DVD-R.

I have managed to get a movie onto a DVD-R & play through my DVD player but have not managed to keep the AC3 sound. I have a home cinema setup in my front room & the best my amp can do with the sound is PLII.

I am using VirtualDub (all versions), TMPGEnc Plus, & Ulead Moviefactory2.

Any help would be much appreciated !!

  2. The thing you need to remember about AC3 sound is that once you have extracted it with Vdub, you need to run it through Besliced to remove the WAV header and fix any errors. Problems arise when you try to convert 23.976fps AC3 to PAL, Besweet just doesn't do it in a way that my player likes.

    Thanks for you reply.

I have tried to use Besliced, but when I drag the .wav file over (the small picture of a man) & select ac3 I just get a notepad window open with a blank page & flashing cursor?? I have obviously done something wrong but I don't know what! Can you help?

  4. When you extract the AC3, change the extension to .AC3. BeSliced might be getting confused if you leave the .WAV extension on...

Still no joy with besliced I changed the extension but it did not help. I have tried to uninstall & reinstall it hoping that it would work but still no good!

Why do I get the notepad window pop-up when I drag my audio file into the besliced window! It's driving me mad cos I think that this is the key to being able to convert an .avi movie with ac3 onto a dvd-r disk!

    Please help me!!!

  6. If Besliced isn't working for you, then try AC3fix. You might want to read this first though...
