  1. Can anyone tell me which DVD authoring programs do not
    re-encode my CCE MPEG-2 files?

    Thank you

  2. If it's a DVD spec file, then it should not be converted.

If it isn't, then I would re-encode it upto DVD-Specs.

I use DVDLab to author and there is an option where you can make it so that the program won't touch your file.

    I really love DVDLab...give it a try.

I love SpruceUP and use it often. Very simple and easy to use plus it is compatable with AC-3 audio files and many authoring programs are not.

Of course I have been hearing mostly good things about both DVD Lab and the TMPG authoring apps but I haven't tried them yet.

I think both have a DEMO of 30 days before LOCKING up. After that you have to buy 'em. I'm low on money so I haven't downloaded them because I'm afraid I'll like one or the other or both then get bummed out when they lock up since I won't have the money (for now) to buy 'em so I just stick with SprcueUp and sometimes I use Ulead Movie Factory 2 but it can be a bit tricky to work with since it TRIES to re-encode stuff and although you can disable it ... it doesn't always work EVEN if the file is compliant.

    P.S.
If using SpruceUp make sure your M2V and AC3 files have the same name (such as movie.m2v and movie.ac3) and are in the same DIR on the same HDD. Then they should import with no problems.

Also note that SpruceUP will mark your DVD as being 4:3 so if you need 16:9 let it make a VIDEO TITLE SET for you (that means a VIDEO_TS folder with IFO and VOB files etc.) then use IfoEdit to edit the main IFO to read 16:9 instead of 4:3

Nice trick I learned when working with 16:9 MPEG-2 files.
